Opening

Mr. Gefford turns onto his long driveway after being away for a week finding buyer for his moonshine. Times have been tough but since the global oil shortage, corn has recently become a highly sought-after and valuable product for use in plastics.

The air is so thick with fog Mr Gefford can barely see the lights from his house through the haze. In his old electro-converted chevy he pulls up to his tattered farm house, right at the last moment the chevy glitches out and boots back up. Mr. Gefford’s truck, Ol Boy, is a second gen nemekai, more emotional than intelligent.

(Good Mood)

It’s okay ol’boy, we did good this year, you’ll get a tune up like I promised. Maybe that new V8 coprocessor, whadaya say eh boy?

(Audibly excited)

Mr. Gefford consoles the dashboard with a pat. While looking at the left over dust on his hands he says…

(Good Mood)

Yeah really! and you know what? I think I am gonna give the house a good paint too. That yellow colour Susie has always wanted! Golly she’ll be so excited. Times are a changing for the better I can feel it.

Right at the moment a crack of thunder sets off a down pour of rain.

Mr Gefford grabs a big stack of empty baskets, puts them over his head like a giant hat and runs towards the house. In his excitement he jumps with a kick of joy.

(Good Mood)

Susie! I’m baaack! I’ve got a surpriiise for you!

After a moment of combing the house for Susie, Mr. Gefford mumbles to himself.

Hmpfh, she must be feeding the pigs.

Mr. Gefford grabs his umbrella and flashlight to trek out to the barn.

Another crack sounds but this time it’s not the storm it’s the barn door slamming in the wind. Only a faint flicker of light can be seen eminating through the entrance.

As Mr Gefford nears closer, he can hear what sounds to be the crunching of bones and the shlapping of flesh.

Not uncommon if the feed is scraps from the neighbours farm but that isn’t due for a few months.

Mr Geffords concern rises…
